- Duration: 30 min
- Watch: 1st December 2017 at 6:30pm UTC
DESCRIPTION: “Egg Tart Mukbang ASMR (No talking)” will be performed and live broadcasted from Hong Kong, where I will be eating Egg Tarts, a famous local food in Hong Kong which was introduced by the British during British colonial era. Mukbang, originated from South Korea, is an online video broadcast where the host of the show eats large quantities of food while interacting with their audience. ASMR stands for Autonomous sensory meridian response, also an youtube phenomenon where the host eats their food with high quality sound recording devices, and audiences enjoy the exaggerated sounds of eating and food crumbling, and having an acoustic experience that provides a tingling sensation to the spine and skin. It is very common that the hosts don’t talk during their ASMR session to try not to interrupt their audience’s audio experience.
BIO: Florence Lam (b.1992), originally from Hong Kong, currently lives and works in Reykjavik, Iceland. She completed her MA in Fine Art at Iceland Academy of the Arts in Spring 2017, and obtained her BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London, UK in 2014. Her practice revolves around the themes of wonder, magic, childhood and positive psychology. Her artistic creed: “I listen to my materials and let them say what they have to say” derives from Carl Roger’s counselling method, in which the therapist only repeats what the patient says, thus becoming their mirror. Lam’s work was presented in solo exhibitions at RÝMD in Breiðholt and at Galleri Fisk in Bergen (both in 2017). Since 2014, her performances and works have featured at a range of festivals and group presentations in Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Poland, the UK, China, Japan and Hong Kong. Recent performances are presented at Performance Platform Lublin in Poland and at Sequences Art Festival in Iceland (both in 2017). Artist Website
