Lobar – Lucélia Oliveira Barbarini (Araraquara, Brasil): The Box – A caixa

Lying on the floor, a woman removes from the surface of her body several cardboard boxes painted in different shades of beige. Gradually, between movements and stays, it solidifies the narrative of social roles and affections. The box is a performance arising from the potential approximation of the box object and the female body, intending relationships and meanings. Deitada no chão, uma mulher retira da superfície do corpo várias caixas de papelão pintadas em diferentes tons de bege. Aos poucos, entre movimentos e permanências, vai solidificando a narrativa de papéis sociais e afetos. A caixa é uma performance decorrente da potencial aproximação do objeto caixa e do corpo feminino, pretendendo relações e significados.

Lucélia Oliveira Barbarini “Lobar”, performer, visual artist and teacher born in the city of São Paulo, lives and works in Araraquara – SP. In her research, she creates possibilities for the interaction of artistic languages.The word, the discourse, are propelling elements of a poetics that aims to discuss recurring themes in her practice, such as women and freedom.
